Paying attention is not just for eyes and ears. This week I am aware that being present to the fragrance in my garden brings a sharpened awareness of beauty and story. Joe brought these gardenias inside this morning. How lovely they are, shining with dew. But their sweet smell reached me before anything else. I breathe deeply and say “thank you”, remembering all the way back to those that bloomed by our front porch when I was a little girl.
I love this beautiful rose photo. I have tried repeatedly to grow roses where I live on the edge of a canyon and have finally given up.

I am glad you like the photo, Juliana. It is of gardenias, not roses, although I have some roses that look very much the same. I once had an antique rose called “Sombreuil” that looked quite alot like this with a lovely fragrance all its own. Thanks for stopping by the blog! Have you tried antique roses, or “old roses”. They are such hardy and vigorous plants that they might survive where others have failed!
